UPND Dispels Allegations that MPs Have Boycotted Covid-19 Fight
The UPND has denied allegations by Southern Province Minister Edify Hamukale that its MPs in the province have boycotted the fight against Covid-19, calling them pathetic and myopic accusations.
Leader of the Opposition Jack Mwiimbu challenged Mr Hamukale to produce any evidence to support his claims that UPND MPs ignored order to collect protective equipment to distribute among their constituents.
Mr Mwiimbu accused Mr Hamukale of playing cheap and dirty politics, which was detrimental to the fight against the coronavirus.
He further added that the UPND, through its president Hakainde Hichilema, has made several generous donations to the Ministry of Health and the Ministry Home Affairs to help tackle the coronavirus.
Earlier this month, Mr Hichilema donated several beef carcasses, 300 thermometers, 350 boxes of soap and 200 bags of mealie meal to be used by health staff and those manning isolation centres.
The UPND and other opposition parties have cast politics aside in order to band together in the fight against Covid-19, Mr Mwiimbu said.
The leader of the opposition said Mr Hamukale should realise that Zambians are not competitors in a musical concert, singing the way he wanted them to.
