Malawi poll annulment challenges filed
Malawi's President Peter Mutharika and the country's electoral commission have appealed against a constitutional court decision to annul the results of last year's election.
Mr Mutharika - who had been declared the winner - says the court's ruling goes against democracy.
After months of taking evidence, the court this week ordered a new poll, having found widespread irregularities including result sheets with sections blotted out or altered.
Barely 30% of the results in what some in Malawi are calling "the Tippex election" were verifiable.
It is only the second time a vote has been overturned by the courts in Africa.
