The Zambian Centre for Interparty Dialogue has stated that it is the prerogative of each participating political party to appoint whomever they want for the national dialogue and reconciliation meeting.

Spokesperson for ZCID, Jackson Silavwe, has explained that it is not ZCID’s responsibility nor the church bodies to choose who should participate in the meeting. He noted that political parties themselves can choose who represents them.

He continued that ZCID have only issued a guideline that the meeting is for Presidents and Secretary Generals. However, he urged parties to adhere to the guidelines and invitations to avoid confusion.

This comes in the wake of the PF and UPND butting heads over Chishimba Kambwili’s wish to attend as a consultant to his new party NDC.
