TEVETA Invests K19.4 Million in Workforce Skills

The Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority - TEVETA - has set aside K19.4 million to strengthen skills development for workers, trainers and lecturers.

TEVETA Board Chairperson Ngoza Nkwabilo says K16.87 million will support the upskilling and reskilling of more than 2,300 employees across six training institutions.

Ms. Nkwabilo says a further K2.58 million will fund the training of 66 lecturers and instructors from 19 public and private training institutions.

Speaking at a contract-signing ceremony, Ms. Nkwabilo said the employer-based training will equip workers with practical skills directly relevant to their workplaces.

Kafue Gorge Training Centre Representative Bright Sepiso says the investment is strengthening the capacity of training institutions, with participant numbers rising from 757 in 2022 to about 1,800 currently.

Meanwhile, Human Resources Development Programme beneficiary Yale Nyirenda says the training has strengthened classroom delivery and improved trainers’ ability to implement and assess competency-based education and training.
