Seven CDF Projects Commissioned in Livingstone
Livingstone District has commissioned seven community development projects valued at over K7.4 million, as the Constituency Development Fund continues to deliver visible change at grassroots level.
District Commissioner Eunice Nawa launched the projects across five wards last Tuesday, describing the occasion as more than a ceremony. "Communities are now participating in identifying their priorities and witnessing the delivery of projects that directly improve their daily lives," she said.
The projects span health, water, sanitation and market infrastructure. They include a market shelter in Simonga Ward fitted with electrical sockets and lockable storage; eight boreholes across six settlement zones in Kasiya Ward; a drainage system in Zambezi Ward; a sewer system in Maramba's R-Section expected to connect 133 households; a riverside crossing point at Riverside Market; and the final phase of Kalaluka Health Post, complete with staff houses, a water reticulation system and an incinerator.
A new ambulance was also unveiled at the event.
Livingstone Town Clerk Sombo Kawilila noted that the Kalaluka Health Post, which began construction in 2022, is now fully complete and ready to serve patients. On the water projects in Kasiya Ward, she said the need had been acute — residents had previously been forced to share water sources with animals before the boreholes were installed.
She added that the Zambezi Ward drainage system had already reduced flooding in the area, while the Maramba sewer project would significantly improve sanitation for surrounding households.
