24 CDF Projects Boost Communication Sector
Twenty-four projects have been delivered under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to strengthen the communication sector over the past three years.
Valued at approximately 9 million Kwacha, the projects span infrastructure development and the provision of communication equipment, all aimed at improving how information reaches communities across the country.
Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU) Head Kusobile Kamwambi said the investment is designed to strengthen information dissemination nationwide and reflects the central role media plays in raising public awareness of national development programmes and government interventions.
She was speaking in Lusaka when Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) Director General Webster Malido paid a courtesy call on her.
Ms Kamwambi urged the IBA to give particular attention to community radio and television stations, describing them as powerful tools for communication, public education, and grassroots engagement. Strengthening these outlets, she noted, ensures that even the most remote communities stay informed about the opportunities and services being delivered to them.
Mr Malido said broadcasters play an essential part in bridging the gap between policy implementation and public understanding, helping citizens grasp government interventions and national priorities.
He expressed confidence that as the PDU continues to coordinate and deliver on government priorities, broadcasters will remain vital partners in ensuring development initiatives reach every corner of the country.
The CDF programme continues to expand its reach, underlining the government's commitment to building a better-informed and more connected Zambia.
