New Medical Equipment Delivery at Kitwe Teaching Hospital
Government says the installation of CT scan and X-ray machines has improved service delivery at Kitwe Teaching Hospital (KTH).
Copperbelt Province Permanent Secretary Lawrence Mwanza says government will also provide another X-ray machine to the facility to help meet growing demand.
Mr Mwanza said this when he visited Kitwe Teaching Hospital, noting that government will continue supplying modern medical equipment to the hospital, as it also serves patients from other provinces such as Luapula and North-Western.
Kitwe Teaching Hospital Medical Superintendent Chileshe Mboni said the facility is undergoing transformation due to government support.
Dr Mboni said medical staff are now able to provide X-ray and CT scan services on site, reducing the need to refer patients elsewhere.
This has significantly improved patient care and reduced waiting times, as patients no longer need to travel to other facilities for diagnostic imaging services.
The installation of modern medical equipment is part of government's broader strategy to upgrade health infrastructure across the country and bring specialised services closer to communities.
Kitwe Teaching Hospital serves as a referral centre for the Copperbelt region and neighbouring provinces, making the availability of advanced diagnostic equipment critical for effective patient management.
