Government Gifts Vehicles and Laptops to Boost Devolution Programme

The government has handed over 10 vehicles to Provincial Local Government Officers and one to the Local Government Decentralisation Secretariat under the Zambia Devolution Support Programme.

Speaking during the handover ceremony in Lusaka, Local Government and Rural Development Minister Gift Sialubalo said each Provincial Local Government Office will also receive a laptop to support operations.

Mr Sialubalo urged the Provincial Local Government Officers to strengthen oversight and supervision of various government projects in their respective areas.

The handover is part of efforts to enhance the capacity of provincial offices to effectively implement the devolution agenda and monitor development projects at local level.

Luapula Provincial Local Government Officer Kambinga Nondo pledged to carry out his duties diligently by closely monitoring all projects under his jurisdiction.

The vehicles are expected to improve mobility and enable officers to conduct regular field visits and project inspections across their provinces.
