Medical Student Shot Dead While Climbing Fence in Lusaka

A 21-year-old medical student has been killed after a truck driver shot him in Makeni ZNS area.

Christopher Matubulani died in the early hours of this morning after being shot in the thigh whilst trying to climb over a fence to reach his boarding house.

Police Spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi confirmed that the suspect, David Tembo, a truck driver, has handed himself over to authorities.

Mr Chilabi said the shooting happened as Mr Matubulani was climbing the fence near a designated truck park where Mr Tembo was parked in his vehicle.

"The driver shot the student in the thigh. He was rushed to Makeni Clinic but sadly died from his injuries," Mr Chilabi said.

Police have opened an investigation into the shooting and the suspect remains in custody.
