President Hichilema has Reaffirmed His Government’s Commitment to Driving Development and Progress in Zambia
Speaking through Eastern Province Minister Peter Phiri at the Kulonga traditional ceremony of the Tumbuka people, President Hichilema pledged that the government’s efforts would directly benefit Lundazi District. He assured citizens that upgrades to the Chipata–Lundazi road would be completed before the end of the year.
This pledge aligns with Zambia’s recent $450 million partnership with the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), which will fund infrastructure projects including the Chipata–Lundazi–Old Magodi Road.
The President also announced the approval of 15 community projects worth over K15 million under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), sanctioned by the Lundazi Town Council.
Chief Mphamb commended the government for its continued focus on development and called for assistance in resolving boundary disputes in the area. Meanwhile, Lundazi Member of Parliament Brenda Nyirenda urged the government to increase allocations under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) to bolster regional food security.
The address underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, support agriculture, and strengthen community development in Lundazi, contributing to long-term improvements in livelihoods.
