.Police Hunt Suspects After Deadly Robbery
Police have launched a manhunt following the fatal shooting of a businessman in Woodlands, Lusaka.
Yu Bin, 56, was attacked outside his home on Milima Road on Monday around midday as he waited for his gate to open.
Police say the Chinese national had just returned from withdrawing money at a bank in Chilenje when suspects on a motorbike shot him and made off with cash and other items.
His wife, Diane Yuan, 57, reported the incident to Woodlands Police Station shortly after the attack.
Mr Yu was rushed to Maina Soko Medical Centre but was pronounced dead on arrival. His body has been taken to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
According to Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi, Mr Yu left his home around 10:00 on Monday morning to visit the bank.
Investigators believe the attackers had been following him and struck as he arrived back home two hours later.
"As he waited for the gate to open, the suspects approached, shot him, and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and other valuables," Mr Chilabi said in a statement on Tuesday.
The suspects escaped on a motorbike, though police have not yet established its registration number.
Police are urging anyone with information about the attack to come forward.
"The Zambia Police Service appeals to members of the public with information that may assist in identifying and apprehending the suspects to report to the nearest police station," Mr Chilabi said.
He added that all information would be treated confidentially.
