First Lady Donates to Kitwe Hospital
First Lady Mutinta Hichilema has donated essential medical equipment and food supplies to Kitwe Teaching Hospital as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery in the Copperbelt province.
The donation includes hospital beds, mattresses, blankets and wheelchairs, alongside food items such as sugar, cooking oil and mealie meal.
Speaking during the handover, Mrs Hichilema acknowledged the difficulties many hospitals face in delivering quality care to patients.
"We are aware of the many challenges our healthcare facilities encounter. This donation is meant to ease some of those burdens and improve the lives of patients and their families," she said.
The First Lady expressed hope that the equipment would make a meaningful difference to both patients and the wider community.
In a separate initiative, Mrs Hichilema donated 150 industrial sewing machines and 10 embroidery machines to women and girls across the Copperbelt.
The programme aims to equip women with practical skills that will enable them to generate income and support their families through entrepreneurship.
"When we empower women with skills, we empower entire families and communities," Mrs Hichilema said.
The twin donations reflect the First Lady's continued focus on healthcare improvement and women's economic empowerment in Zambia.
