Sausage Thief Sentenced to Three Month Imprisonment

A Lusakan youth has been sentenced to three months in prison with hard labour after stealing wine, sausages, oil, and other goods worth over K1,000 from Shoprite.

Lusaka Magistrate Allan Kangwa jailed the thief, Richard Mwansa, after he pleaded guilty to committing theft at a Shoprite in Manda Hill.

Thefts in chain stores have become increasingly common. Earlier this week, a gardener was sentenced to 80 days in prison for stealing to 25kg bags of mealie meal at a Shoprite in Cosmopolitan Mall.

Magistrate Kangwa said the sentence will act as a deterrent to other potential offenders.
