ZAMSSA Launches Health Kit Distribution Initiative

Under a Government directive, the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) has begun the delivery of 960 kits to health facilities in the Copperbelt Province.

The Copperbelt kits are just one portion of 7,000 kits recently received by ZAMMSA, which form part of a strategy to address medicine shortages.

ZAMMSA Public Relations Officer Enoch Lusoke, who was present for the receipt of kits at the Luanshya ZAMMSA hub and health facility, said the kits would last two months. Lusoke said that timely procurement and delivery of the kits would resolve many medical challenges that facilities have faced historically.

Lusoke was also delighted to reveal that a further 42,000 kits had been confirmed, and would be received by ZAMMSA’s 7 hubs in batches.

Dr. Morgan Mweene, Clinical Care Specialist at the Copperbelt Provincial Health Office, said that his office was delighted with the kits, which would meet the 35% drug deficit his office had been experiencing.
