Covid 19 Update: Four New Cases, Third Death
The Ministry of Health has today confirmed an additional four Covid-19 cases, taking the total number recorded to date to 61.
During the update the Ministry reminded people, “COVID-19 is an invisible enemy that can only be defeated with visible participation by all of us. There is therefore need for all citizens - everyone and every community across Zambia, to develop a sense of personal responsibility and a sense of urgency in this regard.”
The Ministry also confirmed, Sunday, the death of a third individual who has tested positive.
“We have lost the 19 year old patient who had attempted suicide by consuming a herbicide. The herbicide predominantly causes respiratory distress in addition to failure of other organs. She was in critical state and our specialised team did all they could to manage her condition.,” the Ministry stated.
Today is one month since the first lab-tested cases of COVID-19 were reported. Since then 33 patients have recovered, while 25 cases remain active.
