Government cuts fees in Colleges of Education
The General Education Minister David Mabumba has announced a reduction in user fees in college of education across the country to K800 per term.
This week during a briefing in Lusaka, Mabumba stated all students in colleges of education would now pay K800 as general purpose fund.
Thos in boarding will pay an additional K1,000 for accommodation and food, bringing the total fees per term to K1,800. On top of this students will will now be required to make a one-off payment of K500 for their practice.
“This will only be applicable to those students who will qualify to go for the teaching practices,” he said.
“The new fees will be effective 13th May, 2019 when the second term of the year 2019 commences.”
Mabumba has reminded school management to adhere to the reduced user fees for pupils in public and grant aided schools.
He said K150 and K200 are the user fees for school in rural and urban areas respectively
