Regional Leaders and AUDA-NEPAD Congratulate Hichilema on Re-election

Messages of congratulation have continued to reach State House following President Hakainde Hichilema's re-election as President of the Republic of Zambia, with the African Union Development Agency–NEPAD and the heads of state of Seychelles and Zimbabwe among the latest to send their good wishes.

AUDA-NEPAD Chief Executive Officer Mrs Nardos Bekele-Thomas said the Agency highly values its partnership with Zambia and remains committed to supporting the country's development priorities. She added that AUDA-NEPAD would continue to back Zambia's contribution to the advancement of Africa's Agenda 2063, the continental framework for inclusive growth and sustainable development.

His Excellency Dr Patrick Herminie, President of the Republic of Seychelles, expressed confidence that President Hichilema's tenure would continue to steer Zambia towards progress and prosperity.

His Excellency Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, said he was confident that under President Hichilema's stewardship, Zambia would continue to achieve peace, stability, prosperity and sustainable development. Zimbabwe and Zambia share deep historical, economic and cultural ties, and cooperate closely on trade, energy and regional security through the Southern African Development Community.

President Hichilema was declared the winner of Zambia's general election this month, securing a second term in office. The messages point to the weight regional partners place on continuity in Lusaka, both for Zambia's own reform and investment agenda and for its role in wider continental initiatives.
