FRA Depots Close for Election

The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) will temporarily close all satellite depots across the country to allow staff to vote in Thursday’s general election.

According to an internal memorandum signed by FRA Board Chairperson Suresh Desai, the depots will close at 18:00 today, Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

They will remain closed throughout the election period and reopen at 07:00 on Friday, August 14, 2026.

Mr Desai says the closure will allow Satellite Depot Clerks and other FRA employees to exercise their right to vote.

He has directed Regional Managers and other responsible officers to notify farmers, employees and other stakeholders in good time and ensure the orderly closure and reopening of the depots.
