From Shangombo to Senanga: HH Promises Major Development Projects in Western Province

President Hakainde Hichilema has wrapped up today’s campaign activities in Western Province, taking his development message to Shangombo, Nalolo, Limulunga and Senanga, where he pledged major infrastructure and economic projects ahead of the August 13 General Election.

In Shangombo, President Hichilema pledged to upgrade the Shangombo Harbour to boost cross-border trade between Zambia and Angola. He also promised to complete works on the Shangombo Canal, modernise the Shangombo Border Post and upgrade the Sioma-Shangombo Road to bituminous standard to improve connectivity and access to markets.

The President further announced plans for a modern market and a skills training institution in Shangombo to support youth empowerment and job creation.

In Nalolo, President Hichilema emphasisED the government’s commitment to development, improved services and economic opportunities in the district.

In Limulunga, the President announced that government will upgrade Mongu Airport into an international airport once re-elected. He said compensation for communities affected by the airport expansion has already commenced.

President Hichilema also pledged to complete the construction of Lewanika University and announced that works on the Sioma Power Station will soon begin to unlock economic opportunities in Western Province. He further directed that volunteer teachers and nurses who attended the rally should be employed. The President Hakainde Hichilema wrapped up the day's campaign in Senanga, addressing large crowds that turned out for his final rally.

Former Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane urged residents to support the UPND, saying the leadership of President Hichilema has brought development progress.

Meanwhile, UPND National Youth Chairperson Gilbert Liswaniso called on voters in Western Province to support peace, stability and continued development by voting for the ruling party.
