HH Pledges New Chapter for Western Province

President Hakainde Hichilema has concluded the first day of his campaign tour of Western Province with renewed promises to improve infrastructure, public services and economic opportunities.

In Mulobezi District, the President said Government will work towards transforming Western Province into a major business and tourism hub by investing in key infrastructure, including the construction of an international airport.

He also pledged to increase Farmer Input Support Programme beneficiaries, improve livestock disease control, expand mobile and internet connectivity, and construct more dams and boreholes.

In Mwandi, President Hichilema assured residents that the district would continue benefiting from Government development programmes through better roads, improved access to clean and safe drinking water, more schools and health facilities, as well as increased jobs, business opportunities and skills training.

He also pointed to Government's achievements in free education, social protection and the recruitment of teachers and health workers.

In Sesheke, the President pledged to tar the Kazungula-Livingstone-Sesheke Road and upgrade the Katima Mulilo One-Stop Border Post to boost trade with Namibia. He also committed to rebuilding the town market that was destroyed by fire, rehabilitating Sesheke Boarding Secondary School and upgrading Sesheke District Hospital.

In Sioma, President Hichilema promised to expand the Malombe Centre Pivot Irrigation Scheme to support year-round farming and improve household incomes. He also reiterated plans to increase FISP beneficiaries, strengthen livestock disease surveillance, upgrade the province's airport to international standards, improve feeder roads, build more health facilities and create more employment opportunities.

Throughout the tour, President Hichilema appealed to voters to give the UPND another mandate, saying it would allow Government to continue implementing programmes aimed at improving the lives of people in Western Province and across the country.
