M'membe: Pick Mundubile and You'll Regret It

Socialist Party leader Fred M'membe has launched a stinging attack on National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) presidential candidate Brian Mundubile, warning Zambians they will "have themselves to blame" if they hand him the keys to State House.

Speaking in an interview yesterday, Dr M'membe — himself a candidate in this year's election — questioned whether Mr Mundubile has the capacity to govern, pointing to what he called a thin record in office.

He took aim at Mr Mundubile's spell as Northern Province minister under the Patriotic Front, alleging he delivered little meaningful development. Trusting the country to him and his allies, Dr M'membe said, would be a mistake, and he urged voters to scrutinise the background of anyone chasing high office.

His sharpest jab was reserved for the PF's past. Reminding voters that the party was booted out in 2021, he asked whether its former leaders had genuinely changed. "You have seen the performance of those people when they were in government. Why did you kick them out? Have they gone through the purification process over the last five years?" he asked.

The Socialist Party leader also hit out at the wave of political defections sweeping the campaign, calling it a sign of collapsing principle. Zambia, he argued, needs leaders with integrity and vision — not politicians who switch parties for personal gain.
