ECZ Launches "Count Me In" Campaign Ahead of 2026 Elections

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has launched "Count Me In", a nationwide voter sensitization campaign designed to encourage greater citizen participation in the 2026 General Elections.

Speaking at the launch, ECZ Chairperson Ms Mwangala Zaloumis SC said the campaign is a call for every eligible Zambian to take an active part in the electoral process and ensure their voice is heard at the ballot box.

The Commission revealed that women make up 53 percent of the country's electorate, underlining the decisive role they will play in shaping Zambia's democratic future. The campaign places particular focus on reaching women, youths, persons with disabilities, and first-time voters, with the aim of promoting voter awareness, civic responsibility, and inclusive participation across all parts of society.

To ensure electoral information reaches every corner of the country, sensitization activities will be rolled out across all 1,858 wards, 116 districts, and 10 provinces. The ECZ called on stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organisations, traditional leaders, faith-based organisations, and the media, to support the campaign and help educate citizens on the value of taking part in democratic processes.

The Commission stressed that voter participation remains a cornerstone of democracy, urging all eligible voters to stay informed and prepare to exercise their constitutional right to vote. Reaffirming its commitment to free, fair, transparent, and credible elections, the ECZ said it hopes the campaign will foster a culture of active citizenship, reminding every Zambian that their vote counts.
