Bank of Zambia Calls for Financial Sector Transformation to Deliver Grow Zambia Agenda

The Bank of Zambia has said it is ready to work with financial institutions to advance the innovations and initiatives needed to deliver the Grow Zambia Agenda.

Speaking at the official opening of the 2026 Banking and Finance Conference in Livingstone, Bank of Zambia Deputy Governor for Operations Dr Francis Chipimo said the country's growth targets would require a significant transformation of the financial sector.

Dr Chipimo said banks and other financial institutions were expected to play a central role in mobilising the resources required to realise the agenda.

Bankers Association of Zambia Chairperson Mwindwa Siakalima said the improved economic environment of the past five years had created a stronger foundation for the banking sector to support investment and economic expansion. Mr Siakalima was represented at the event by Zambia Industrial Commercial Bank Chief Executive Officer Ngenda Nyambe.

Zambia Institute of Banking and Financial Services President Kuldip Paliwal told the conference that the effective use of data and artificial intelligence would be critical in supporting economic growth as Zambia pursues the Grow Zambia Agenda.
