Fish Feed Plant to Boost Gwembe’s Growth

The Gwembe Town Council has secured funding for the establishment of a fish feed manufacturing plant and is awaiting final approval.

Gwembe Town Council Secretary Hachongo Habwacha says the project is a major investment expected to support aquaculture, create jobs and stimulate economic growth in the district.

Mr. Habwacha says the Council also plans to establish a Farmers’ Training Centre in Gwembe, modelled on the existing facility in Choma.

He says the centre will provide practical agricultural training, particularly for farmers in the Gwembe Valley.

Meanwhile, the Council has partnered with the Ministry of Tourism and the Zambia Tourism Agency to position Gwembe as an emerging tourism destination.

Tourism experts have already conducted preliminary assessments and are expected to undertake detailed mapping of the district’s tourism resources.

Mr. Habwacha says the exercise will help showcase Gwembe’s scenic landscapes, mountains, water bodies and camping sites to local and international visitors.

He adds that the initiative is expected to diversify the district’s economy and create new opportunities for investment and employment.
