Multi-Facility Economic Zone in Kafue Increasingly Close to Completion

A US$ 300 million Multi-Facility Economic Zone in Kafue is nearly complete and ready to become operational. The Economic Zone is already beginning to have machinery installed by companies as they prepare to commence operations as soon as possible.

The Golden Baobab Multi-Facility Economic Zone in Kafue has cost around US$ 300 million and will become one of Zambia's largest industrial developments. Various companies and investors have already secured space within the facility.

The project began ten months ago, in September 2025, and within a year of construction commencing it is expected to boost economic growth in the local area.

Whilst inspecting the project, Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet for Finance and Investment, Mr Siakalenge, commented that the industrial development represents the Government's aim to improve investor confidence, create jobs and increase economic growth.

The facility is also expected to help reduce agricultural feed prices, as the Economic Zone will host firms that increase competition within the market. A diverse range of industries will operate at the site, from manufacturing to energy production.

Kafue is reclaiming its place as one of Zambia's leading industrial centres.
