Airtel Zambia Reaches One Billion Dollar Market Capitalisation on LuSE

Airtel Zambia has reached a market capitalisation of one billion US dollars on the Lusaka Securities Exchange, marking a significant milestone for the telecommunications company.

The achievement was announced at a Bell Ringing Ceremony, where Airtel Zambia Chief Executive Officer Hussam Baday described the development as a significant accomplishment. He noted that the company's valuation had grown substantially from 182 million dollars two years ago.

Speaking at the same event, Technology and Science Permanent Secretary Brilliant Habeenzu said the digital sector continued to register strong growth. He stated that around 300,000 jobs were created in the sector last year, compared to 133,000 in 2021.

Lusaka Securities Exchange Head of Legal and Company Secretary Namunuyuka Jere reaffirmed the institution's commitment to deepening the capital market in Zambia. She said this formed part of broader efforts to attract more investment into the country.
