Over 11,000 Senga Hill Beneficiaries Receive Social Cash Transfer Payments
Over 11,200 Social Cash Transfer beneficiaries in Senga Hill District have received their payments through digital platforms, the Government has announced, in a fresh push to extend social protection to vulnerable households in northern Zambia.
Community Development and Social Services Minister Doreen Mwamba disclosed the development when she addressed beneficiaries in the district, confirming that the disbursements had been made via a range of digital channels.
Ms Mwamba said a further 1,800 beneficiaries will be paid through pay point managers stationed within their communities, ensuring those without ready access to mobile money or banking services are not excluded from the programme.
The Senga Hill rollout is targeting a total of 13,000 beneficiaries, forming part of the broader Social Cash Transfer scheme aimed at reducing poverty and supporting the most vulnerable, including the elderly, persons with disabilities and households caring for orphans.
The Social Cash Transfer programme remains one of Government's flagship social protection interventions, with regular payments designed to give beneficiaries a predictable income to meet basic needs.
Senga Hill, located in Northern Province, is among the rural districts where uptake has been steadily expanded as Government works to deepen the reach of social welfare delivery across the country.
