Kansanshi Mining Awards US$35.25 Million Transport Contracts to Zambian Firms
Kansanshi Mining PLC has awarded employee transportation contracts worth a combined US$35.25 million to four Zambian-owned companies, reinforcing its commitment to local participation in the country's mining value chain.
The contracts, announced on Thursday by Kansanshi Corporate Affairs Specialist Clinton Masumba, have been awarded to Quattro, Inzu, Temas and Intertrek. The agreements will run for three years, from February 1, 2026, to January 31, 2029, replacing the previous one-year arrangements and offering the selected firms greater operational stability.
Masumba said the decision reflects the company's broader strategy of promoting long-term business sustainability in North-Western Province, where Kansanshi operates one of Zambia's largest copper-gold mines.
The shift from annual to multi-year contracts is expected to provide Zambian transport operators with the financial predictability needed to invest in fleet upgrades, workforce development and service improvements.
The move aligns with growing expectations across Zambia's mining sector for increased local procurement and meaningful economic participation by citizen-owned enterprises. By directing substantial contract value toward domestic firms, Kansanshi is positioning itself as a leader in local content development within the industry.
The contracts are effective immediately, with services already underway across the company's operations in Solwezi.
