Over K67 Million Disbursed to Kitwe SMEs Under CDF Programme
The Kitwe City Council has successfully disbursed over K67 million to 792 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) since 2022 under the transformative Constituency Development Fund (CDF), demonstrating the UPND government's commitment to grassroots economic empowerment.
Copperbelt Province Minister Elisha Matambo highlighted the administration's dedication to uplifting Zambians through strategic government empowerment initiatives that are creating tangible opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
In a speech read on his behalf by Provincial Permanent Secretary Lawrence Mwanza during the handover of 2025 CDF loans to 223 new beneficiaries, Mr. Matambo explained that the fund's revolving nature ensures sustainability, allowing more citizens to access vital business capital. He emphasized that responsible loan repayment is essential to the program's success and enables the government to extend this opportunity to additional entrepreneurs. Local authorities will work with beneficiaries to ensure compliance and protect the fund's integrity.
Kitwe Town Clerk Patrick Kambita noted that while the program has achieved significant success, maximizing its impact requires full participation from beneficiaries through timely repayments, which will accelerate community development and allow even more Zambians to access these life-changing opportunities.
