Government Assures Farmers of Payment for Maize Supplied to FRA
Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa has assured farmers that the Government will raise additional funds to ensure that all those who supplied maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) are fully paid.
Mr Kangwa said that although five billion kwacha had already been secured for the exercise, the Government is mobilising further resources through maize exports to clear all outstanding payments. "We must make sure the farmers are happy," he said.
He made this commitment when he, together with Central Province Permanent Secretary Milner Mwanakawpwe, paid a courtesy call on Thursday to Chief Mukubwe of Ngabwe District during an inspection of developmental projects in the area.
Mwanakawpwe also assured the public that the maize was stored securely, saying that “that no single grain should go to waist, tarpaulin has been secured and the crop is covered.”
