ERB Raises Fuel Prices for October
The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has increased pump prices for all petroleum products effective October 2025, citing currency depreciation and rising international oil costs.
Diesel now costs K26.20 per litre, up from K25.30, while petrol has increased to K30.58 from K29.18. Kerosene will retail at K24.78 per litre, up from K23.64, and Jet A-1 now costs K27.11, compared to the previous K25.83.
ERB Board Chairperson James Banda said international oil prices have risen since the last review on August 31, 2025. Diesel increased by 0.70 percent from $84.26 per barrel to $84.85, petrol rose 2.56 percent from $74.32 to $76.22, while kerosene and Jet A-1 went up 1.16 percent from $82.04 to $82.99 per barrel.
Mr Banda noted that both monthly and slate exchange rates depreciated during the pricing period.
"The combined effect of the depreciation of the Kwacha against the United States Dollar and the increase in the international oil prices have influenced the pricing decision for the October 2025 domestic price review," he said.
