Minister for Mines Implores  Mining Executives To Come To Him With Concerns

The Minister for Mines and Minerals Development has stated that the government will deal with new taxation policy concerns on a case by case basis. Following serious concerns from mining companies such as FQM, Verdanta, Glencore and Barrick Gold.

 

Minister Musukwa met with the First Quantum Minerals Directors whilst in Zambia and noted that any concerns over taxation policy should be brought to the attention of the government.

 

FQM director, Philip Pascal said they would submit concerns regarding the new tax changes and reminded the Minister that FQM has invested $5billion in Zambia over the last 20 years, at their sites in Kansanshi and Lumwana, in addition he noted FQM had paid over $3.5 billion in taxes.
