Three Mobile Service Providers Fined
ZICTA has fined three mobile service providers – Airtel, Zamtel and MTN for failure to meet minimum benchmarks for service delivery. The providers have been fined 12.6 million kwacha - double what the Telecommnuncations regulator fined the trio of 3.1 million kwacha last year.
AIRTEL, MTN and ZAMTEL and have been fined a total of 12 million and six hundred thousand kwacha for failing to meet some of the set parameters on quality of service which include call set up success rate, mean opinion’s call, successful sms rate, sms delivery time and http success log ins, http success rate as well as http down rate 2g and 3g.
The authority has fined MTN Zambia limited a total of 3 million six hundred thousand kwacha for failing to meet set parameters on me opinion’s call, http successful internet logins and successful sms rate for both quarters.
AIRTEL has been fined a total of 4 million 2 hundred thousand kwacha for failing to meet the set parameters on call drop rate, mean opinion’s call, http success internet logins and successful sms rate for the fourth quarter of 2017 as well as mean opinion’s call, http success internet logins and success sms rate for first quarter of 2018.
Further the authority has fined ZAMTEL a total of 4 million and eight hundred thousand kwacha for failing to meet the set parameter on call set successful rate, mean opinion’s call, http successful internet logins and successful sms rate for both quarters.
