Nkana Residents Receive K2 Million CDF Grant

Over 80 people in Kitwe’s Nkana constituency have received a K2 million Constituency Development Fund (CDF) grant. Increasing CDF uptake is a major priority for President Hichilema's UPND government.

Kitwe District Commissioner, Lawrence Mwanza, said that it's crucial to use the funds wisely during the CDF empowerment funds handover ceremony.

The CDF, which benefits communities at grassroots level, has seen its budget increased 17 fold by President Hichilema's government. Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mirriam Zulu expressed gratitude to the government for the empowerment initiative. Mwanza urged recipients to utilise the funds for approved projects, cautioning against their use for personal gain.

For the recipients, the CDF grant will be put towards their own business endeavours to improve their livelihood and thus stimulate the economy.

Earlier this year, 2,000 Kitwe residents received K31 million for secondary school bursaries and skills training. Zulu pledged continued support to the government for its efforts in empowering people through the CDF programme.
