NAPSA Supports Chipata District Women Groups with Seed Donation

The National Pensions Scheme Authority (NAPSA) have supported fourteen area women groups in the Chipata district with donations of sunflower seed and treadle pumps. The groups received a total of 206 5kg bags of sunflower seed and five treadle pumps in a donation valued at K60,000.

The Head of Zambia National Pension Fund Closure Project at NAPSA, Mathews Nondo, said “NAPSA is supporting government in responding to issues affecting women because the authority recognises the role of women in socio-economic development”. He said that NAPSA hoped this action would help economically empower the woman in the Chipata District.

The recipient groups are all a part of the Chipata District Women Development Association (CDWDA). Nondo said NAPSA’s donation to them was part of the continued activities of the association in celebrating 2023’s Women’s Day, the theme of which was “DigitALL Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality”.

CDWDA’s Assistant Coordinator, Aliness Nyau, thanked NAPSA for the donation. “Sometimes these women groups fail to buy even a bag of seed. So, we appreciate the support we are getting from NAPSA”.

Jesse Kombe, NAPSA’s Area Manager, who was present at the time of the donation, remarked how NAPSA’s decision to donate the seed was an act of corporate social responsibility.
