HH Appoints New Ministers for Justice and Foreign Affairs

On Wednesday, President Hakainde Hichilema reshuffled his ministerial cabinet, promoting former Justice Minister Mulambo Haimbe to the position of Minister for Foreign Affairs and assigning his previous role to Keembe MP Princess Kasune.

Haimbe had been in post as justice minister since President Hichilema’s election in 2021. During his time as Justice Minister, he has achieved many great things, including the abolition of the Death Penalty.  He also abolished Defamation of the President as a criminal offense, encouraging autonomy and free speech.

Haimbe was responsible for enacting Zambia’s first ever Access to Information Law, allowing all citizens the right to request unclassified information from the government on any matters regarding the public, promoting a society of openness and transparency.

Princess Kasune has been a member of the National Assembly since 2016. She is known for her advocacy work on education and acceptance surrounding HIV/AIDS.  

Additionally President Hichilema has transferred Minister for Green Economy and the Environment Collins Nzovu to the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation. His previous position will now be taken up by former Lusaka Mayor and Munali MP Mike Elton Mposha.
