Zambia Condemn Russian Invasion Of Ukraine
Zambia, along with 140 other countries, voted to'reprimand' Russia for its invasion of Ukraine.
The United Nations General Assembly voted on Wednesday to'reprimand' Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, demanding that Moscow halt fighting and remove its armed forces, in an effort to diplomatically isolate Russia at the UN.
The resolution, which was adopted by 141 of the assembly's 193 members, brought to a close a rare emergency session convened by the United Nations Security Council, as Russia continued its military assault against Ukraine.
The resolution's wording "deplores" Russia's "aggression against Ukraine."
Thirty-five members abstained, including China, while five nations voted against the resolution, including Russia, Syria, and Belarus. While General Assembly decisions are not legally obligatory, they do have political clout.
South Africa, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan, Sudan, Mali, Mozambique, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan are among the African and other international states that have not condemned Russia.
