Is Kabila Going To Seek Asylum In Zambia?

Saviour Chishimba has said he is in receipt of credible information that Democratic Republic of Congo’s President Joseph Kabila is considering settling in Zambia. Chishimba has stated that  granting Democratic Republic of Congo’s Joseph Kabila asylum in Zambia will be a sign that Zambia, under President Edgar Lungu’s PF, has transformed from a lion to a goat nation. Switzerland has imposed sanctions, including asset freezes and travel bans, on 14 allies of Democratic Republic of Congo’s Kabila amid a worsening political crisis linked to his refusal to step down, Reuters reported.

“We are in receipt of credible information that Joseph Kabila, the illegal President of DRC came to Zambia to meet Lungu over an asylum. This is not only nauseous, but also demeaning to Zambia’s historic record of being a force for good rather evil in Africa,” Chishimba said.

He said the embattled DRC leader must face the International Criminal Court (ICC) for crimes against humanity. Chishimba further explained Kabila’s leadership, which had resulted in the mass killings of Congolese through unavoidable wars, was similar to the lawlessness in Zambia since 2015.
