First Lady Supports Vulnerable Lusaka Central Families with Clothing and Mobility Aid Donations

First Lady Mutinta Hichilema has provided assistance to vulnerable families in Kangwanda area of Lusaka Central Constituency, donating 76 bales of second-hand clothing, 10 wheelchairs, crutches, and 600 pieces of chitenge material.

UPND Chairman General for Special Duties William Banda said the donation highlights the First Lady’s continued commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and improving the welfare of disadvantaged citizens across Zambia.

Mr. Banda said the initiative, which was launched in 2021, is a humanitarian programme designed to provide long-term support rather than serve as an election campaign activity. He emphasised that the programme will continue beyond the 2026 General Election, with a focus on assisting elderly people, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups.

He also acknowledged the role of partnerships between government and the church in expanding outreach efforts and ensuring that assistance reaches those most in need.

Meanwhile, lawyer Dickson Jere pledged to engage relevant authorities to help Kangwanda residents address long-standing land ownership challenges and secure legitimate title deeds.

Bishop Harry Ncheka, Coordinator of Bridging the Gap Between Government and Churches, said President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration has shown commitment to improving the lives of people in Kangwanda and communities across Zambia. He encouraged residents to continue supporting the President’s leadership.

UPND Kabulonga Ward Chairperson Nelson Nkole added that Zambia has a caring President who deserves the opportunity to continue implementing development programmes initiated by his government.
