What is Open Zambia?

Open Zambia is an online news portal that provides coverage of business and political developments important to Zambians and Zambia’s political and socio-economic prospects.

More than this, Open Zambia is a platform for the airing and sharing of perspectives through the contributions of our independent commentators published on the site.

Open Zambia shares articles written by independent commentators, interesting and informative articles published elsewhere, and links to relevant information for those interested in Zambian politics and business.

What is the aim of Open Zambia?

The primary goal of Open Zambia is to promote and protect transparency, accountability, and business best practice in Zambia.

Transparency, accountability, and business best practice are fundamental to Zambia’s development and socio-economic prospects.

More than this, Open Zambia is a platform for the airing and sharing of perspectives through the contributions of our independent commentators published on the site.

In order to achieve its goal Open Zambia seeks to do the following:

  • Share information that facilitates open dialogue and candid conversations on transparency, accountability and business best practice and related topics
  • Provide informed and credible analysis that is accessible to, and insightful for, audiences both within Zambia and internationally
  • Become a focal point in debates relating to the state of and outlook for transparency, accountability and business best practice in Zambia

Why?

Transparency, accountability, and business best practice are fundamental to Zambia’s development and socio-economic prospects.
Whilst Zambia has long been considered a beacon of stability within the region, in order for it to both boost its democratic credentials and maximise its potential for economic growth it is clear that there is a need for more platforms through which information can be shared, transparency, accountability, and business best practice supported, and threats to these flagged publicly.
