Bizarre Law Proposed To Limit Times An Individual Can Run In Presidential Election

It has come to light that there is a proposed law that will limit the number of times an individual can appear on the Presidential ballot paper. The proposed law is a ‘private bill’ being put through by Frank Ng’ambi, and originally raised by MMD member Prince Ndoyi.

Mr Ndoyi claims the law is necessary to ‘help the nation stop power-hungry individuals who continue to abuse the country’s democracy for their own selfish interest.’

However Ndoyi and Ng’ambi’s naivety is clear – there is no democracy on earth that holds this rule to date and neither would it have any impact on stopping ‘power hungry’ individuals, as arguably they’re the ones already in power in Zambia.

Although a private motion the un-impartiality of this proposed law is obvious, Gary Nkombo has called the proposal a farse and noted it is simply intended to stop UPND president Hakainde Hichilema from being on the ballot in 2021.’

Gary continued, pointing out it is entirely at odds with a democratic constitution:
“When a Member of Parliament brings a stupid motion like a motion that goes against the constitution then he is an embarrassment.”
