The PF has made it clear that the party intends to keep quiet about the accusations made by former PF minister Chishimba Kambwili that he was slapped by Copperbelt minister Bowman Lusambo outside of parliament last week as the matter has been before the Speaker of the National Assembly Dr Patrick Matibini.
The matter also extends to allegations that Minister of Lands Jean Kapata poured water on Kambwili following the slap. Kapata has also raised a point of order regarding accusations made against her by Kambwili that she is a thief.
The Speaker has now referred the matter to the committee on privileges, absences and support services for further consideration and recommendations.
Explaining his decision, Matibini outlined it as follows: “In my immediate remarks, I reserved my ruling on both points of order to enable me to investigate the matters. Honourable members, in view of the fact that the point of order raised by Dr. C Kambwili MP, raises potentially conflicting versions or a contest of what transpired on a material day, I have found it necessary to refer this matter to the committee on privileges…to enable the committee fully investigate what transpired on the material day and in due course, make appropriate recommendations to the house.”
