Zambia’s AFCON Journey Gets Off To A Bad Start

Zambia began its quest for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations on a losing note with Mozambique winning 1-0 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Stanley Ratifo proved the hero for the mambas with his 90th minute strike that took Mozambique to the top of Group K.
The win was the first ever for Mozambique against Zambia.

Coach Wedson Nyirenda had started with Collins Mbesuma upfront but withdrew him at half time bringing in Dave Daka.
However, it was the mambas that struck at the death when Ratifo turned in from inside the box to seal victory for Mozambique.

Zambia will now shift its attention to the friendly match against South Africa on Tuesday at the Moruleng Stadium.

The other Group K members are Namibia and Guinea Bissau whose fixture will be played later.
