#ThrowbackThursday – “When your time is up, we say bye-bye”

This Thursday we throwback to April 2001 when Vice President Lt. Gen. Christon Tembo issued a public plea to President Frederick Chiluba not to run for a third term in office.

Speaking at the first major rally to protest Chiluba’s third term bid, Tembo was accompanied by several senior government ministers and several thousand residents as he said “Leaders must go when their time is up. When your time is up, we say bye-bye”.

Demonstrators were pictured wearing t-shirts and banners calling for Chiluba’s retirement and an end to the debate on the constitution.
