A number of reports have suggested that the PF ‘mega-rally’ at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in the Copperbelt was a flop.
In typical PF fashion they have been quick to start making excuses for the events failure, with Emmanuel Mwamba attempting to assure readers by stating ‘It I a case of choosing whether the glass is half empty or half full.’ Mr. Mwamba went on to list several other reasons why the Stadium wasn’t full – none of which put responsibility at the feet of the PF.
Mr. Mwaamba blamed the poor turn out on the dispersed nature of towns in the copperbelt, inability for Zambians to get to the stadium and the vast resourced it would require to coordinate Zambians from all 9 towns nearby.
He then went onto say that low turnout was due to the Copperbelt Agricultural show and FAZ club games.
Mr. Mwaamba did not stop there, indeed there were no shortage of excuses. Indeed, he argued that following party nominations candidates resources would be thin on the ground and therefore mobilization might be lower.
The fact is the PF failed to throw a successful rally, the Copperbelt do not feel the same way about them as they have done in the past. With rising cost of living, job losses and broken promises characterizing 2015 and 2016 so far it is unsurprising residents were reluctant to support the incumbent party.
Enough with excuses PF, it’s time to be honest with yourself and the Zambian people.
