Zambia State House: Ruling PF gets Kapiri, opposition UPND takes Lukulu

The PF’s Eddie Musonda has won the Kapiri Mposhi seat, beating his closest rival Lawrence Zimba of UPND by 1,144 votes. UPND on the other hand were heading to victory by press time in Lukulu West, with their candidate Misheck Mutelo leading with 3,515 votes compared to PF candidate Eileen Imbwae who trailed with 1,755 out of results from 36 of the 40 polling stations. In an election characterised by apathy, Mr Musonda polled a total of 6,614 votes against 5,470 votes for Mr Zimba while UNIP’s candidate Francis Mwape trailed with a paltry 443 votes.
